Post-Doctoral / Research Engineer Position M/F (Reference: CS/FK/NTN/032026)
We are looking for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher to take technical ownership of an ESA-funded research project on UE-based positioning for 5G Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), using NR-NTN and IoT-NTN (NB-IoT) technologies. The project will extend previous work on terrestrial 5G NR positioning methods as well as 5G NTN features that have already been integrated into OpenAirInterface.
What you’ll do
- Design, implement, and validate positioning features such as based DL-TDoA based on PRS (NR) as well as NPRS (NB-IoT) in OpenAirInterface. The implementation needs to be adapted to the 5G LEO environments with high Doppler shifts.
- Implement reception and management of UE assistance data from posSIB and SIB19 messages.
- Setup of a testbench in simulation as well as with software defined radios (SDR) to test and evaluate the implementation
- Coordinate students and engineers, and act as technical interface with Airbus
- Contribute to open-source software, project deliverables, and publications
Why join us
- High-impact role in an ESA / Airbus project
- Work on real 5G/6G-NTN systems, not just simulations
- Direct contributions to OpenAirInterface, used worldwide
- International, research-driven environment at EURECOM
Requirements
- PhD in wireless communications or related field
- Strong experience with LTE / NB-IoT and/or 5G NR
- Hands-on skills in C/C++, Linux, and SDRs
- Background in positioning (ToA, TDoA, RTT, Doppler) is a big plus
- Comfortable combining research leadership with system-level implementation
Application
The application must include :
- Detailed curriculum,
- List of publications specifying the three most important publications,
- Motivation letter of two pages also presenting the perspectives of research and education,
- Name and address of three references.
Applications should be submitted by e-mail to secretariat@eurecom.fr with the reference: CS/FK/NTN/032026
Start date: ASAP
Duration: 18-months CDD (temporary work contract)
