A native of Monaco and proud “Enfant du Pays”, Luxmaan Sellappah’s story is one of passion, ambition, and the power of finding the right place to grow: “EURECOM was not just a school. It was the platform that allowed you to go from a student passionate about telecoms to a recognized professional, now involved in digital transformation, management and leadership in Monaco.”
In 2018, Luxmaan graduated from the Master in Mobile Communication Systems, a program he chose for its perfect mix of academic excellence, global perspective, and deep industry ties. Reflecting on his time at EURECOM, he describes it in five words: "Transformative, international, challenging, innovative, and career-defining." But what truly set his experience apart was how the program taught him to transform complex technological ideas into real-world business solutions.
From the classroom to Monaco’s digital stage
This transition came naturally, driven by the EURECOM ecosystem. Through the school’s close collaboration with its consortium of leading companies and institutions (GIE) including the Government of Monaco, the school connects its students with leading digital players and opens the door to high-impact projects.
As a native of the Principality, returning to Monaco to build his career was a natural choice for Luxmaan and an opportunity to put his skills to work for the community that had shaped him.
In this context, after graduating, he joined the Société des Bains de Mer de Monaco (SBM) as an IT Engineer. Today, he contributes to the development and management of the digital infrastructures supporting some of the Principality’s most iconic institutions.
Looking back, Luxmaan credits EURECOM for preparing him for the fast-paced, multicultural world of tech. "The school gave me the tools to work under pressure, collaborate with diverse teams, communicate effectively, and transform technical knowledge into practical solutions." he shares. Today, he is shaping the digital future of Monaco, “bridging the gap between technology and business strategy” to drive meaningful change.
The human side of Tech
For Luxmaan, every day is about balance… pushing the boundaries of innovation while keeping systems stable, secure, and reliable. "One of the biggest challenges is managing rapid technological evolution while ensuring operational continuity. Organizations must innovate quickly while maintaining stability, security, and service quality" he admits. But it’s the impact of his work that keeps him motivated. Whether it’s streamlining operations, enhancing customer experiences, or supporting long-term transformation, he thrives on seeing how technology can improve lives and businesses.
His advice to current EURECOM students: “Students should focus on developing both technical expertise and business understanding.
The professionals who create the most impact is often those who can connect technology with strategy, operations, and people.
In addition to my engineering background, I had the opportunity to complete an Executive MBA in Management and Finance at the International University of Monaco (IUM) in 2024, fully sponsored by Société des Bains de Mer de Monaco (SBM). This experience broadened my perspective beyond technology, allowing me to develop strategic, financial, and leadership skills. It reinforced my ambition to bridge the gap between technology, business, and executive decision-making while preparing me for future leadership roles.”
A call to the next generation
Luxmaan’s journey is a testament to the power of diversity in tech. To future female students, he offers this encouragement: "Do not let stereotypes define your ambitions. The technology industry offers incredible opportunities to innovate, lead, and create meaningful impact.
Your ideas, leadership, and expertise are essential for shaping the future of technology.”
And for anyone considering EURECOM? His answer is clear: "It’s more than a school, it’s a launchpad. EURECOM combines academic excellence, international exposure, industry connections, and practical learning. It provides a strong foundation for building a successful career in technology while opening doors to opportunities around the world.
